The little joys of life!

I see these kids, who live in a tiny jhuggi on a plot right in front of our society, playing and swinging around in sun, in rain every day. And, they give me utter happiness. Those smiles are enough to lift my mood. And now, they’ve started noticing me watching them and they sometimes wave. The utter joy I felt the first time, is indescribable. Now I wait to catch their eye and wave, they wave back :) There’s nothing more to this… but this little human connection in times where I was living all alone locked up at home(as stepping out and socializing isn’t safe and the flatmate was away for a month) was just what I needed.

The irony is, sitting in my safety net, those smiles that kept me going have no concept of the corona precautions. No masks, no sanitizers. The man of the house is out on his bike selling some fruits each day and on some evenings, I’ve enjoyed seeing him and the kids sitting together on the ground relishing some juicy mangoes themselves. They look happy (and are hopefully safe)! I feel happy seeing them!

Of course, I am only looking at the happy picture. But that’s what I want to, right now.

Some simple pleasures, little joys we all can afford, no matter what the circumstance, if only… we want to look at the brighter side!
